Norma Guest
Managing Director

With over 30 years experience in the employer engagement and education sectors, Norma has worked in public, private and voluntary organisations across the UK. Her CV includes working in retail management, apprenticeships training & assessment, careers advice and over 20 years in senior leadership roles, latterly as Director of Operations and Chief Executive of Connexions Cheshire & Warrington.

In 2012, Norma set up Mploy as a commercial enterprise to provide services for the education and skills sector.

George Miller

George has over 35 years experience in the private sector having established and run several successful businesses.

Coupled with his extensive commercial, technical and management experience gained from supplying major national retailers in the horticultural industry, George also has an enormous amount of experience and knowledge within sales and marketing.

Lauren Hodkinson

Having started her career as a Work Experience Adviser within the Education Business Plus department of Connexions Cheshire & Warrington, Lauren has experience within the work related learning sector spanning 13 years.

After assuming various positions within Connexions including Health & Safety Assessor, Team Leader and Project Development Manager, Lauren joined Mploy in 2012 leading the operations team for 5 years. Now Business Development Manager, Lauren is responsible for implementing the organisation’s digital strategy.

Susan Denny
Operations Manager

Sue had an unusual start to her career working in a laboratory growing bacteria to make biscuits! Luckily for us, she very quickly changed her path, providing careers advice and guidance to young people across the UK.

During this time, Sue moved to Connexions Greater Manchester which in turn brought her in to contact with a large FE college and this is where she went on to spend 9 years as their Director of Student Services, where she had responsibility for careers, welfare, SEND, admissions, progression and pastoral support. This coupled with her previous careers experience, means that Sue brings with her over 30 years experience.

Sarah Traynor-Barry

Customer Service has been at the heart of Sarah’s working life, starting out working in retail when she was 16, progressing to running her own bakery business for 8 years; baking and selling pies, pastries and cakes. When Sarah closed-up shop she returned to retail, but decided that she needed a complete change and joined Mploy in 2016.

Sarah loves a challenge and enjoys being able to source placements for young people that can make a real difference to their lives.

Alex Mack

Alex has extensive experience within health and safety, ensuring young people have been safe and secure on their placements for over 14 years. He has also delivered enterprise activities and supported the work placement team having engaged thousands of employers – to say he has the gift of the gab is an understatement!

Alex’s favourite part of the role is working with a range of people and organisations and being able to see young people reaching their potential.

Graeme Leggott

Having served in the army for 23 years Graeme decided to focus his attention on youth work once he left, managing Connexions Vacancy Line and providing careers guidance to young people across Cheshire & Warrington.

Graeme has over 15 years experience within health and safety and enjoys being out on the road visiting a wide variety of organisations, ensuring placements are suitable and secure for young people.

Brian Lee
Careers Adviser

When Brian left the RAF in 1999 he wanted a job that suited family life. Brian started working within attendance and mentoring teams in schools which paved the transition to careers advice and guidance.

Brian has extensive experience working with a range of clients for over 15 years, including young and adult offenders, people with disabilities and young people from challenging backgrounds.

As well as delivering careers advice, Brian also works on a number of specialist programmes with a range of young people from 14-25.

Brian’s Qualifications:

James Ridgway

After an array of bar jobs in his late teens and early twenties including becoming Bar Manager at the famous ‘Warehouse Project’ in Manchester, James decided he wanted something more permanent. Having secured a customer service apprenticeship role with Manchester City Council he went on to work at the Manchester Art Gallery in the retail team for 5 years until 2017 when he joined the MPLOY team, working on securing apprenticeships for young people.

James has recently switched roles and as well as employer engagement for specialist and bespoke placements, he also leads on MPLOY’s communication and social media strategy.

James’ Qualifications:

Amber Wood

Amber completed a degree in Business Management at Liverpool John Moores University and following the completion of her course, secured a position in sales

Amber joined Mploy in 2018 as an Employer Engagement Coordinator utilising her previous sales skills and resilient attitude! As much as she loves seeing the success and positive outcomes achieved by both students and employers, she believes the need for student support is greater than ever.

Michelle Rose

Michelle’s career started straight from leaving school when she secured a position as a team leader in the retail sector. From here, she moved to working in an opticians where she progressed from working on reception to buying frames and assisting with the clinical side of the business. After 11 years, Michelle felt that it was time for a completely fresh challenge and joined Mploy in 2018.

Michelle supports work experience, enterprise and employability programmes and is responsible for monitoring all of the young people out on placements.

Tony McLoughlin

Tony previously worked as Assistant Director/Area Manager for Greater Merseyside Connexions Service before moving to join Mploy as Team Leader with responsibility for the team of Careers Advisers.

Prior to this, managing various children and youth services has provided Tony with extensive experience of Careers Advice and Guidance as well as having specialist expertise within employer liaison and special educational needs.

Louise Cairns

Louise has over 20 years experience working within a range of secondary schools delivering one to one guidance and employability projects. Having further experience of working with employers to deliver a number of initiatives, coupled with a keen interest in continuous professional development and project management, Louise was also the lead for our recent BeInspired ESF contract.

Louise is passionate about helping young people gain access to impartial careers guidance, providing them with as many options as possible.

Paula qualified initially as a Primary School Teacher before changing career to work in the Careers Service in Salford. Starting in a support level position, Paula qualified as a Careers Adviser and hasn’t looked back.

Her extensive career spanning over 30 years, has given Paula the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including schools, colleges and the Connexions Service across the North West. Paula joined Mploy as a Careers Adviser in 2016 and has been a valuable addition to the team.

Having delivered impartial careers advice to young people in Cheshire & Wirral for over 20 years, Paula is extremely experienced delivering both universal and targeted services. Paula finds that by maintaining strong links with local training providers, employers and FE/HE institutions, this enables her to provide the best support she can to the young people with whom she works.

Paula is most driven by helping young people to become more self aware and to feel more confident about themselves and the choices they make.

Having previously worked in a secondary school having responsibility for their careers provision and work experience programme, Matt was no stranger to helping guide young people in their future choices.

This passion to interact with young people and to assist them with their future choices and plans, led Matt to undertake his careers guidance qualification and start with Mploy as a Careers Adviser. Matt also has experience of employer engagement for both standard and bespoke work placements and employability events.

Following a career in the health service, Phil looked for a change of direction and after completing his career guidance qualification, he started work as a careers adviser based in the community, schools and colleges.

Phil feels that his position in Mploy, gives him the flexibility of working in a variety of locations where he has the opportunity to meet with young people from all backgrounds helping them to reach their goals and aspirations.

Mark Blagbrough

Mark has worked in advice and guidance for over 20 years working with both adults and young people. He has worked with adults as an employability adviser in Jobcentres before moving on to Connexions to work with young people in schools and colleges. He hasn’t looked back since! He has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including schools, FE colleges, Pupil referral units and for Connexions.

Mark has in depth experience of working with young people applying for university as well as young people who are considering different career pathways. He is a strong advocate for apprenticeships.
